Our Mission

indonesian-german-innovation

Since 2014, Hochschule Hannover has collaborated with Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta to foster trans-cultural innovation. Each May, Master’s students in Design and Media from Hannover join Indonesian students and faculty members in Yogyakarta.

Together, they use Design Thinking methods to develop innovations such as strengthening democracy in German companies, creating social solutions for underprivileged Indonesian neighborhoods, empowering women, or designing products that promote bamboo as a sustainable material in local markets.

This experience has been transformative for me. Working across cultures has broadened my perspective and taught me how design can truly make a difference in people’s lives.

Ebru Koller, Design & Innovation at Futur X, Hannover, Germany

This collaboration combines the strengths of both economic, academic, artistic, and social spheres. It unlocks unique innovation potential and significantly impacts the personal growth of young designers while contributing to the creative industries in both regions.

The designs created through this collaboration have completely transformed our bamboo furniture offerings. They combine modern aesthetics with traditional craftsmanship, making them highly appealing to local and international markets. The innovative use of bamboo has not only boosted our business but also strengthened the perception of bamboo as a sustainable and versatile material.
